How to play WebXR games on Meta Quest
WebXR games run in your headset's web browser, so there is nothing to install: a link opens the game. Here is how to start one on Meta Quest 3, Quest 3S or Pico.
Step by step
- Open the browser. On your Quest, open the Browser app from the app library. On Pico, open its browser the same way.
- Go to nxtwebxr.com. Type nxtwebxr.com in the address bar, or open a link someone shared with you.
- Press Start. The catalogue opens around you in your room. Allow the immersive session when the headset asks.
- Pull a game towards you. Browse the trailers, then grab the one you want and pull it towards you to start it.
- Come back for the next one. When you leave a game you are back where you were, with the next one waiting.
Prefer a particular game? Every game page has its own Play button, for example Moon Rider or HoloRange.
If the VR button does nothing
- Make sure you are in the headset's own browser. A phone or computer can show the page, but only a headset can enter VR.
- Allow the permission prompt. If you said no once, reload the page and try again.
- Update the headset. WebXR improves with every browser update.
- For mixed reality games, passthrough has to be available; for hand tracking games, turn hand tracking on in the headset's settings and put the controllers down.
